Day 13 On the road to Wendover, NV

We left Tahoe today on Route 26 and then got on Route 50 known as America's loneliest highway. It has that name for a reason. We really hit no traffic at all we had straight roads through the desert. I had an encounter with a large black bird. (Since I am a Steelers fan let's just say it was a Raven) Anyway we were traveling down the road at 70 miles an hour when this bird ran into my upper shin. Well this felt like someone hit me in the shin with a fast pitch baseball. This definitely made me cry 😭 and when stopped my leg was swollen. I made a makeshift icepack and wrapped it around my leg. We stopped in Fallon, NV at a gas station and got ice etc. But never fueled up. We drove to Austin, NV on fumes we were definitely worried that we might not have enough gas to get there. We found a gas station just in time. I bought 2 t-shirts at the gas station "I survived Route 50". Austin, NV has a population of 197. It was originally a town that mined silver, uranium, and turquoise. There is a castle located there Stokes castle. Then we proceeded down Hwy 50 to the town of Ely, NV we stopped at the Jail House Casino and had lunch at a Mexican restaurant in the casino. At dinner we decided to travel 121 more miles to Wendover, NV to spend the night at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino. On the way into town we saw the Great Salt Lake of to our right. Once we got there we got a shower then went down to the casino and got something to drink then play a few slot machines. I won $106.17 then turned in for the night
