Finally On the Road to Sturgis Day 14 - STURGIS

(many more pictures to come --- I can not stand SLOW internet)

This morning we left our cabin at Custer State Park for Sturgis at 6 am. As we were driving out of te park this morning we saw several deer along the way and also a Buffalo. We arrived in Sturgis at 7:30 am we had no traffic and easily found a place to park at 4th and Main Streets. I decided to take a few pictures each hour as Sturgis came alive so I took my first photo of Main Street at 7:45 am.

We decided to find a place to go for breakfast. We walked to small place on Main St. that had breakfast but it was very small and full. A guy on the street told us to walk down a few blocks to the VFW for a buffet breakfast. We went and paid $9.00 for the breakfast. Next we decided to walk around main street for a while. Places were just beginning to open up and we walked around to see what the various vendors had to offer. Some very unique motorcycles began to arrive and we got some pictures of them. I saw that they had a zipline over main street and I told Jeff I wanted to do that. And for $20 I got to zipline across main street and all the motorcycles park there. This was about noon time so by this time the streets were full. It was awesome and I am so glad I got to do it. We saw a buffalo motorcycle, I woman driving a bike with a side car with a pig in the side car with goggles on. (The pig was huge at least 100 lbs) We saw a man with a conestoga type wagon behind his motorcycle with 5 dogs in it. It was very entertaining. We walked over another block and got to see a lot of vendors, Indian motorcycles, Victory Motorcycles, Various beverage companies, Insurance companies, etc. Shortly after we decided to leave and go to the Full Throttle Saloon which is located about 3 miles east of town. Once there we found a place to park and went inside it was pretty cool inside. There were several bands playing in various areas. We saw a woman who had her whole body painted and it looked like she had an outfit on. It was pretty cool. We got something to eat and drink and looked around. They have 2 iron bridges mounted inside the saloon also 2 tractor trailer cabs. After we ate we walked around and checked out the other vendors and got a t-shirt for my sister in law Margie. (As requested). We left the Full Throttle and drove to the Buffalo Chip which is right down the road just a bit so we could meet up with Kim’s sister Sue. We got to see the Budweiser Clydesdales at the Buffalo Chip as well as some other vendors for motorcycles. We went into a shop that had all kinds of furs, they even had a buffalo fur coat and a buffalo fur bra (haha). Kim’s sister Sue met up with us and we walked around for awhile then we decided we would leave and go to Deadwood. We had to drive back through Sturgis to get to Deadwood but the traffic wasn’t as bad as we inticipated. Once we got to Deadwood we had to find a place to park. We parked at one of the casino parking lots and walked through the town. We stopped at a wine shop and I did a wine tasting. Then we walked down the street and found the place that Wild Bill Hickok was killed. We went inside and got to see where he was shot. We walked downtown and explored some of the other shops then we went to the Deadwood Social Club for dinner. It was nice although the service was a bit slow. We sat out on the outside patio to eat and it was enjoyable outside. After dinner we left and drove the 1 ½ hours back to our cabin at Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park. We saw a lot of deer on our way back in. We plan to head out to the Badlands tomorrow on our way to Ft. Pierre, SD
